ers'/Improvers' Fly-Fishing Course
This one-day fly-fishing course is for individuals or small groups. We
can supply all tackle and equipment but do bring your own if you have
it. Our aim is to provide a thorough grounding in the basic skills of
flyfishing, and sufficient knowledge for you to be able to assemble your
tackle, select a fly and fish with confidence.
The course centres
around fly-casting, which is paramount to fly fishing. During the session,
we would also examine tackle systems and rigs, practising knots, and
providing a general idea of how it all goes together.
We will look at
the theory and practice of entomology and flies [pond dipping], taking
time to inspect some of the aquatic invertebrates that form part of
the trout's diet, and compare these with the flies we use to imitate
them.
We will discuss
the pricipal quarry species and, in addition to trout, we will also
look at salt-water and migratory fish.
The remaining part
of the session will be spent fishing, under supervision, putting into
practice our newly aquired skills.
Half Day Beginners'/Improvers' Fly-Fishing Course
This course is an
intensive short-course that covers the same subject area as the one
day course, but without the practical element of the entomology and
fly-studying [pond dipping], and without the fishing practice.
This would suit
those who would benefit from the intensive instruction whilst able to
take themselves fishing. |
