Salmon Fishing Introductory
Courses
For those going salmon fishing,
perhaps for the first time, we run an introductory course.
These, generally half day courses, centre on casting a double handed
rod and on an introduction to Spey casting.
We will examine the life history of salmon
and try to understand the philosophy of fishing for these fish that
do not feed once they have entered fresh water.
We
will examine the effect of temperature on their behaviour to see how
this affects fly selection. We would also look at some of the
fishing techniques and discuss the etiquette of salmon fishing.
We will also look at tackle and tackle
systems; what it's for, how it goes together, knots etc.
