Westlake Fly Fishing is run by Ian Hockley at the picturesque Lockinge Fishery, near Wantage, in Oxfordshire, 15 miles south west of Oxford, close to the chalk streams of Berkshire, Hampshire and Wiltshire and the spring fed rivers of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.

The fishery comprises a series of nine lakes, interconnected by a small chalk stream, spread over 1˝ miles of parkland.  These peaceful surroundings, at the foot of the historic Ridgeway, on the edge of the Berkshire Downs are the perfect backdrop for our fly-fishing School.

The diverse nature of the fishery allows us to simulate virtually any fishing situation for the purposes of instruction.
We cater for all styles of fly fishing from beginners’ trout fishing courses to salmon Spey casting.

Ian is a member of the Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors and a Hardy & Greys Academy Instructor.  He is qualified to teach salmon fishing, trout fishing and fly tying.

He has fly fished extensively throughout the UK, Ireland, New Zealand, America, Canada and the Caribbean.

In the UK, his fly fishing expertise includes chalk stream, rough stream, stillwater and reservoir trout, sea trout, salmon and saltwater fly fishing.

Overseas, he has fished for steelhead and pacific salmon, and saltwater fly fished for bonefish, tarpon, permit, striped bass, blue fish and several species of tuna.
